Holy City # 1 in Conde Nast
We’re # 1! We’re # 1! Of course, we already knew how great the Holy City was, but now Conde Nast has supported our opinion. According to the Post & Courier, the Conde Nast Traveler has ranked Charleston as the # 1 tourist destination in America. Our beloved city took the top spot from last year’s winner San Francisco. Meanwhile our friendly neighbor to the South, Savannah, checked in at # 7.
According to the Post & Courier, “Voters annually evaluate cities based on six categories: atmosphere/ambience, culture/sites, friendliness, lodging, restaurants and shopping. The city with the highest composite appeal wins top honors.”
Stephen Colbert, Charleston’s favorite son, presented the award to a Holy City official in New York City. That wasn’t the only award for the Lowcountry however! The Kiawah Island Golf Resort was honored with a # 3 rankings on the list of Top U.S. Islands and the list of Top Mainland U.S. Resorts.
An interesting side note from the article – The Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau launched a new website (CharlestONLY.com), which celebrates all the city has to offer!
