Press Release

Footlight Players is doubling down this fall with a variety of  holiday shows including a family-friendly musical, the return of Who’s Holiday and holiday  speakeasy shows from Manny Houston and Tonya Nicole.

Holiday Speakeasy Shows

The Queen Street Playhouse, home of the Footlight Players, will welcome two local renowned musical artists to its intimate lobby space to set the right mood for the Christmas season.

First up on Nov. 26th is a returning Tonya Nicole with her show A Holiday Happening featuring her two piece band as she performs some of her favorite holiday classics including fun, sultry, jazz and soul renditions of various songs from Ella Fitzgerald, Bette Milder, Eartha Kitt, and Anita Baker.

December 20th will welcome Manny Houston with his cabaret

A Very Manny Christmas: An Intimate Evening of Yuletide Melodies with the beloved musician playing piano and signing a merry and bright collection of  holiday tunes and even slinging drinks and leading a sing-a-long. Tickets and tables to both  Speakeasy shows available at footlightplayers.net

A Very Merry Footlight Holiday Special (Dec. 8 – 22)

Returning for its third season is the original holiday show A Very Merry Footlight Holiday Special, a family-friendly musical experience for all ages. Written and directed by the actors in the show, each year’s production is a different holiday musical celebration. This season’s show focuses on Mrs. Claus as she prepares for her annual Snow Ball event, welcoming a lineup of iconic and legendary figures from the Tooth Fairy and Jack Frost to Mother Nature and more. The show features a live band and performances of a wide variety of  beloved vintage and contemporary holiday classics. Matinee shows on Dec. 10, 16 & 17 will offer  the chance for kids to take photos with their favorite characters in the lobby following the show.

Who’s Holiday (Dec. 9 – 22)

Last but not least is the return of last year’s bawdy and boozy one-woman show Who’s Holiday, running in rep with A Very Merry Footlight Holiday Special. Cindy Lou Who, Giulia Dalbec (Andrew Lippa’s Wild Party) is all grown up – and she isn’t quite the adorable child you remember from Dr. Seuss’s classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Now a chain-smoking forty year old living in a trailer on Mt. Crumpet, many years have passed since Cindy caught the Grinch in her living room and she’s spilling ALL THE TEA in this 60 minute R-rated comedy. Definitely one for the adults only!

Show times vary for Who’s Holiday and A Very Merry Footlight Holiday Special. For all dates, times  and more info visit footlightplayers.net or call 843.722.4487

All shows at the Queen Street Playhouse, 20 Queen St.
