Places of Worship :: Charleston Bakery
Sure, the Holy City already knows how to make some outstanding food, but it doesn’t hurt to have some Yankee influence once-in-a-while. The Charleston Bakery in West Ashley does a great job of blending southern comfort food with New York City’s classic delicatessen favorites.
The Charleston Bakery serves up traditional New York City Deli fare – bagels, lox, corned beef, pastrami, cheesecake and more. Most folks will gush about the delicious pastries, cakes and desserts – and rightfully so – but I really enjoy starting my day with a bagel and hot coffee. The bakery has plenty of options to load up your bagel and all are tasty.
But yes, it’s the desserts that will keep you coming back to the Charleston Bakery. The Cheesecakes, black and white cookies, brownies, cannolis, pies, muffins, cupcakes and other treats can not be ignored when you enter the bakery. You smell them as soon as you walk in and you can’t stop staring at them while you wait for your food. The Charleston Bakery is a must for those with a sweet tooth.
No matter what food lures you, you’ll soon see that The Charleston Bakery is a little slice of New York City-styled Heaven right here in the Holy City!

***UPDATE 9/3/12***: The Charleston Bakery has MOVED. They are now at 10597 Dorchester Road (intersection of Bacons Bridge Rd & Dorchester Rd) in Summerville.

They delivered lunch to a meeting at the hospital today for an event and it looked delicious. I’d never heard of them before.
