Shovels & Rope CD Release Concert

Published

on

Local band Shovels & Rope will finally release their new album on July 31st. They will then celebrate that release 19 days later with a hometown show at The Pour House.

The self-produced album from the duet will be called “O’ Be Joyful,” but if you can’t wait until the end of the month you can download the first single on iTunes. The track, “Birmingham,” has already been getting some radio play on the West Coast.

The band, comprised of the husband-wife team of Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst, will rock the Pour House after spending most of the month touring outside of the Holy City. Winter Sounds and Magic Mike will provide support for their homecoming show.

And if that wasn’t enough, don’t forget that the Charleston City Paper reported the duo will be featured in a documentary called “The Ballad of Shovels and Rope.” However, there is still no set release date for the movie. However, the Facebook page for the documentary states the final scene will be shot at the Pour House.

Details about “O’ Be Joyful” and the concert can be found HERE. Shovels & Rope’s official site is HERE.
