USS Yorktown Adds Seats for Carrier Classic
The USS Yorktown is starting to look more and more like a basketball arena. The Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum posted a picture on their Facebook page of the ship’s latest edition. I recommend clicking on that link, because the picture above is a much smaller version of the photo. There is also a picture of the stadium lights being brought on deck.
The seats and lights are being installed for the upcoming Carrier Classic this Friday (11/9). This will be the second year of the college basketball event, which is played on the deck of a Navy aircraft carrier. The first Carrier Classic was held last year in San Diego on the USS Carl Vinson.
This year is a double-header, with the women’s teams of Notre Dame and Ohio State playing first, followed by the men’s teams from Marquette and Ohio State.
