Rutledge Cab Co. Opening Soon

Published

on

Rutledge Cab Co., a new downtown restaurant created by some notable Charlestonians, is scheduled to open this month. The venue is expected to be quite successful as many big names are behind the establishment.

The driving force is owner and chef Bob Carter who became famous in the Holy City with his work at the Peninsula Grill and Carter’s Kitchen. His managing partner is Brad Creger who is the CEO of Zeta Compliance Technologies.

Actor Bill Murray and Mike Veeck, president of the Charleston RiverDogs, also have a hand in the restaurant. Murray is also a co-owner of the Riverdogs.

That is a pretty powerful foursome, which explains why there is so much excitement behind the Rutledge Cab Co.

The restaurant will be located at 1300 Rutledge Avenue (corner of that road and Mount Pleasant Street) in the Wagener Terrace neighborhood. The building was formerly a gas station and D’s Grocery.

It’s being described as having a retro concept that will feature throwback cocktails, craft beer and an all-day menu. Dishes include charcoal-grilled steaks and seafood, grilled pizzas and wings, sandwiches, southern fried hand-pies and more. The restaurant released some specific dishes that patrons can expect. Those items included a shredded lamb pizza, beer-poached spiced shrimp, and a pork “ham” chop with peach relish.

Weekday hours are expected to be 10:30 am until 1 am, while weekends will start at 8 am for breakfast and brunch.

For more information check out their official Facebook page.

***Update 1/21/13*** Bob Carter clarified Murray and Veeck’s role in the restaurant. He told the Post & Courier that Bill Murray & Mike Veeck are not partners in Rutledge Cab Co, but had “input in the concept.”
