Reactions to Downtown Fire
Here are some reactions to today’s fire that caused damage to multiple downtown businesses:
Unfortunately, while we were rocking the roof last night, a building on East Bay St. suffered a pretty big fire. Our thoughts are with everyone at Squeeze Bar, The Brick, The Speak Easy & Club Light – we’re hoping for the best for y’all!
Please keep these businesses in your prayers! So happy no one was injured.
Sending our thoughts and prayers to all the residents, businesses, and first responders being affected by the fire on East Bay Street. Everyone at The Brick is fine. We hear no one was injured last night.
We are thankful to report that our entire staff is safe. However, we ask that you send your thoughts and prayers out to all residents, first responders, and businesses being affected by the fire that continues to burn on East Bay Street.
Today is a sad day as several businesses we’re damaged and/or destroyed. Please share our photo and ask your friends to like our page for updates and information on how to help.
Our thoughts go out to everyone who was affected by the fire on East Bay early this morning. We’re glad no one was hurt and hope all damages will be cleared and the bars will be back in action soon!

So sad to hear about the East Bay Fire last night/this morning! Glad no one was hurt!
Our hearts go out to
@TheBrickCHS@SQUEEZE_BAR , Club Light/Speakeasy & all those affected by the fire on East Bay Street last night!
Sending our thoughts and prayers to our friends at The Brick, Light, Speakeasy and Squeeze after the fire.
Thanks to the men and women of the Charleston, St. Andrews, and James Island Fire Departments for your excellent work this morning…..Hate that 3 businesses were lost, but I know it could have been much worse…
Sad for the Brick, Squeeze, Speakeasy, and Light damaged by a late night fire last night. Gene’s sends its best for a speedy rebuild and full registers again!
Sending our thoughts and prayers to all the residents, businesses, and first responders being affected by the fire on East Bay Street.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Squeeze, Brick, Light, Speakeasy, and all of those directly affected by the fire on East Bay Street today!
Prayers needed. Staff and customers are safe — but we are sad to say that the building that houses Squeeze, Brick, Light and Speakeasy is fighting a major battle with fire.
Overwhelmed with support & encouragement from this wonderful city, and our many friends near and far. Thank you, thank you, thank you
Our hearts goes out to all those affected by the fire on East Bay last night. Just relieved everyone is alright after it all.

To all the friends, family, patrons, tourist, locals and everyone in between; thank you for making Squeeze Bar a huge success thus far. Last night, as most of you know, we experienced a major set back to the growth of our company. A fire took about 50% of our building, followed by major water damage.
I will personally make the promise to all of you that we will be back! We will find the silver lining in this tragic event and it will propel us to many great ventures ahead.
I’ll see you all on opening night!
Cheers!

Charlestonians are always so wonderfully supportive of each other in times of tragedy (ie: east bay fires). Y’all are so amazing.
I have some serious college memories on that block. AND I use to work at the hotel there…
My husband and I, when we were dating, use to go to the bar where Light was. Omg
