Folly is Turning 40 – Weekend Celebration Planned

The town of Folly Beach will commemorate its 40th Anniversary with a weekend-long celebration this September. Starting on Friday the 20th, residents and visitors can enjoy numerous events honoring Folly’s 1973 incorporation. Here’s a look at the celebration’s schedule:

Friday, September 20

• TBA – Showing of the 25th Anniversary video history of Folly Beach through 1998 – TBA
• TBA – Speakers on how Folly has evolve – TBA
• 7 pm – Moonlight Mixer – Folly Beach Pier

Saturday, September 21

• 8 am – 5k Run, Walk, Skate, Bike and Dog Walk
• 9:30 am – Center Street closes to vehicles
• 11 am – 8 pm: Party on Center Street
  • Carnival Rides: Ferris Wheel, Carnival Swing, Carnival Slide and Carousel
  • Food vendors
  • Booths and Games
  • Pirate Combo Jump Castle and Slide
  • Old School Arcade Games
  • Clowns and Face Painting
  • Art exhibitors in Folly River Park
• 11 am – Robo Surf Machine
• 11:30 am – Calhoun’s Calling
• 1:30 pm – A Speaker (TBA) and Announcements
• 3 pm – Lonnie Hamilton Jazz Quartet
