Three Charleston Businesses Honored in 4th Annual “Made in the South” Awards
Three Charleston businesses were recently honored by Garden & Gun in their 4th Annual “Made in the South” Awards. The awards honor a wide-range of Southern artisans in five categories.
Bittermilk won the Drinks Category, while Moran Woodworked Furniture earned the award in the Home Category. Haypenny Confections was a runner-up in the Food Category.
Bittermilk, a company created by The Gin Joint team, makes cocktail mixers and currently has three varieties – Bourbon Barrel Aged Old-Fashioned, Tom Collins with elderflowers and hops, and Smoked Honey Whiskey Sour.
Moran Woodworked Furniture, which creates handmade modern furniture, earned their award for their Charred Commode. Charring, according to Garden & Gun, is an ancient Japanese technique used to prevent rot and bugs.
Haypenny Confections, the year-old gourmet s’mores company, notched runner-up honors for their S’mores Kit. The kit includes their flavored marshmallows, homemade graham crackers, locally made chocolate a Sterno can to cook over.
