Local Web Designer Takes Unusual Approach to Raising Money For Surgery
A local web designer has taken to a crowd-funding website to raise money for his upcoming knee surgery. Jeff Booth, the creator and owner of SquidCloud, tore his ACL and lateral meniscus during a Charleston kickball game and now he has to come up with a sizable amount of money to cover the costs of surgery.
Booth’s previous place of employment did not offer insurance, so he had to purchase his own, which will cover about 80% of the surgery costs. Despite that coverage, his out-of-pocket costs are about $15,000.
