2014 Lowcountry Oyster Festival
Are you ready for the WORLD’S largest oyster festival? You better be, because its almost here.
The 31st Annual Lowcountry Oyster Festival is scheduled for Sunday, January 26th from 10:30 am until 5 pm at Boone Hall Plantation.
This is one of the biggest events in the Charleston area, so plan on getting there early and staking out a prime spot (lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged). I also recommend paper towels, koozies, and “oyster tools” (glove, knife, condiments, etc.).
Highlights of the event, besides the 80,000 pounds of oysters, include the Oyster Shucking and Eating Contests, live music, wine and beer selections, a children’s area and local food vendors.
Restaurants scheduled to have tents at the event include: Gilligan’s Steamer and Raw Bar, A.W. Shuck’s Seafood Restaurant, North Towne Greek Restaurant, Red’s Ice House, Wild Wing Cafe, Grindz Burgers & Brew, Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q, and Hyman’s Seafood Company.
The festival will benefit The Ronald McDonald House, Hospitality Heroes, MUSC’s Hollings Cancer Center, Shriners Hospitals for Children and Charleston County Schools Science Materials Resource Center.
Ticket information will be announced soon. Check back for updates.
