Sunday Brings the Blessing of The Fleet & Seafood Festival
The 27th Annual Blessing of the Fleet & Seafood Festival is this Sunday at Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park.
The event was first held in 1987 as a way to show support to the local shrimpers. As you probably know, the festival has grown quite a bit over the last 27 years.
This year, attendees can expect a boat parade, the ceremonial blessing of the fleet, seafood samples from local restaurants, live music, an arts and crafts show, shag dancing, shrimp-eating contests, and more.
The year’s charitable beneficiaries include East Cooper Meals on Wheels and the Charleston Port & Seafarers’ Society.
The festival starts at 11:30 am and goes until 6 pm. Parking and admission are both FREE. Visit the official website for more information.
