RiverDogs to Offer Beer Brewed Over Louisville Slugger Maple Bats for Charity
Nothing says “Merica!” quite like baseball, beer, and the Military. Leave it to the Charleston RiverDogs to bring that trio together this month to raise money for the charity Operation Homefront.
The team has partnered with Palmetto Brewery to offer the Homefront IPA beer, whose entire proceeds will benefit the aforementioned military-themed charity. The unique brew will be sold under the slogan “Hops for Heroes” during the RiverDogs’ home game on Thursday, May 29th, which is also Military Appreciation Night.
Homefront IPA was first developed for the charity in 2011 by the Fremont Brewing Company of Seattle and the Center of the Universe Brewing Company of Ashland, Virginia.
The most unique aspect of the beer is that it was aged on Louisville Slugger maple bats. One of those solid Maple Bats will be auctioned off during the game for Operation Homefront. You can read more about the process here.
Operation Homefront is a nonprofit organization that provides emergency assistance for American military troops, their families, and wounded servicemen when they return home.
