Charleston Duck Race Set for June 14th

The 8th annual Charleston Duck Race for charity will be held on Saturday, June 14th in Daniel Island beginning at 10 am.

The event includes games, jump castles, face painting, music, food vendors, a paddleboard race, and, of course, the rubber duck race. Charlestonians can “adopt” a duck (or ducks) that will be competing in the race. Around 11:30 am on race day, over 30,000 rubber ducks will be dropped from the Mark Clark Bridge into the Wando River. From there, the ducks “race” to the Waterfront Park Community Pier in Daniel Island. The first 35 ducks to cross the finish line will win a prize. The first place prize is a 2014 Toyota Camry.

Proceeds from the duck race are used to fund Rotary community service programs. Over the past seven years the event has raised over $750,000 for local beneficiaries and worldwide Rotary projects.

Although the Charleston Duck Race was started by the Rotary Club of Daniel Island, it has grown to include the Rotary Clubs from Goose Creek, Johns Island, Mt. Pleasant, North Charleston, St. Andrews (West Ashley), and Summerville.
