The Homegrown Johns Island Farmers Market Continues to Blossom

Published

on

johnsislandfarmersmarketThe Homegrown Johns Island Farmers Market, the only year-round market in the city, celebrated its fourth month of operation this month. After a under-the-radar start, the event continues to grow and draw crowds.

The market currently averages 50 local vendors per week and features an array of goods including freshly-baked breads and pastries, sweets, herb and spices, all natural pet food, kosher honey, organic granola, pasture-raised beef, chicken and pork, cheese and milk, pickled products, fermented foods, cold pressed juices, hydroponic tomatoes, and much more. There are also food trucks on site.

In addition to food, local artisans offer products ranging from skin and bath products to handmade jewelry, furniture made from reclaimed wood, to sweetgrass baskets and fresh flowers. Plus, there are plans for demonstrations and more.

Have children that are easily bored? They can be kept busy with an on-site bounce house and live music.

The Homegrown Johns Island Farmers Market is open – rain or shine – every Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm at 3546 Maybank Highway. For more information, visit the official website.
