Chef Whiting & Pastry Chef Neirous Head to Italy

Chef Nate Whiting and Pastry Chef Amanee Neirouz of the soon-to-be-opened restaurant 492 will soon travel to Cortemilia, Italy to participate in the International Hazelnut Festival. The duo, who held the same positions at Tristan, are the only American chefs to be invited to the event.
During the festival, a group of international chefs will each serve an original dish featuring hazelnuts to a group of Italian journalists. Neirouz and Whiting will also tour a hazelnut plantation and factory while in the region.
Fans of Tristan may remember January’s Truffles and Hazelnuts Dinner at the former Market Street restaurant. That event included Italian chef Carlo Zarri who owns the Villa San Carlo Hotel and Restaurant in the Southern Piedmont region of Italy. Not surprisingly, the International Hazelnut Festival is being held in the same region as Zarri’s restaurant.
