6th Annual Mozart In The South Festival Begins Thursday
The 6th Annual Mozart In The South Festival returns to the Holy City this week. Events begin on Thursday and will run through Saturday. The festival is put together by Chamber Music Charleston.
This year’s schedule includes:
Thursday, September 18th
- 7 pm – Rock and Rondo Redux – Charleston Library Society, 164 King Street
- For the first time ever, CMC musicians trade in their formal ware for jeans and leather as jam to the music of Michael Jackson, The Beatles, and Queen (with some Mozart and Beethoven too)
- Hour-long program

Friday, September 19th
- 7:30 pm – Chamber Music at the Cathedral – Cathedral of St. Luke and St. Paul, 126 Coming Street
- Free program (with donations accepted at the door)
- The program opens with musicians from CMC2, a music mentoring program, performing a movement from Beethoven’s String Quartet Op. 18 No. 4.
- The program also features performances from students of the Charleston Academy of Music and the Charleston County School of the Arts Sinfonietta
Saturday, September 20th
- 8:30 am – Little Mozart Circus – Marion Square
- Free, family-oriented event
