2014 Buy Local Month Begins on 11/15

This year’s Buy Local Month will run from November 15th through December 15th and will once again be hosted by Lowcountry Local First. The group will be putting on multiple events that promote local businesses and products. In addition, the organization will throw the first-ever community-supported “Buy Local Block Party & Maker Tours” on Saturday, November 22nd at Local Works.

The goal of Buy Local Month is to “educate the public and shift consumer spending, keeping holiday dollars flowing within our local economy.”

Here’s a look at the bigger events:

Buy Local Month Kick-Off Member Mixer

• Wednesday, November 12th at South State Bank, 46 Broad Street, 5:30p – 7 p

Buy Local Month Block Party

• Saturday, November 22nd at Local Works & 1630 Meeting Street, 11 a – 5 p
  • $10 suggested donation at the door
  • Live music
  • Local artists
  • Indie retailers
  • Local food and beverages
  • Beer garden

Maker Tours

• Saturday, November 22 ndat Local Works & 1630 Meeting Street, 11 a – 5 p
  • Tickets for each Maker Tour are $30
  • Get a behind-the-scenes look at the workshops and production spaces of some of Charleston’s finest makers
  • Each tour will include a tasting at a craft brewery
  • Ages 21 and up only
    • Morning Maker Tour: Check-in 9:30am, Tour 10:00am – 12:30pm

    • Afternoon Maker Tour: Check-in 1:30 pm, Tour 2:00pm – 4:30pm
