2015 Lowcountry Oyster Festival Scheduled for 1/25

Published

on

oysterThe 32nd Annual Lowcountry Oyster Festival is scheduled for Sunday, January 25th from 10 am until 5 pm at the historic Boone Hall Plantation.

This is one of the biggest events in the Charleston area, so plan on getting there early and staking out a prime spot (lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged). I also recommend paper towels, koozies, and “oyster tools” (glove, knife, condiments, etc.).

Highlights of the event, besides the 80,000 pounds of oysters, include the Oyster Shucking and Eating Contests, live music, wine and beer selections, a children’s area, and local food vendors.

The festival will benefit The Ronald McDonald House, Hospitality Heroes, MUSC’s Hollings Cancer Center, Shriners Hospitals for Children and Charleston County Schools Science Materials Resource Center.

Tickets can be purchased here.
