Holy City Sinner’s Top Ten Stories for 2014
It was another eventful year in Charleston (and by far the biggest year for Holy City Sinner). As we welcome in 2015, let’s take a look at the blog’s most viewed stories from 2014.
FYI – I did not include the daily calendar or resource guides, which all rack up a lot of page views throughout the year.
Here’s the list, starting with the most viewed story of the year:
- Jim Cantore Broadcasts from Charleston, Knees Kid in the Nuts
- 2014’s Top Story involved weatherman extraordinaire Jim Cantore taking on an overzealous fan near the Cistern (right). During a live broadcast, the meteorologist calmly kneed a charging kid square in the nuts before flawlessly proceeding with his live report.
- Will Smith Takes Control of a Charleston Rickshaw
- Actor Will Smith spent an April evening at Husk. After his dinner, he delighted a small crowd (which included Holy City Sinner) by jumping on the front of rickshaw and driving a woman down the street.
- Southern Charm’s Cameran Eubanks Gets Hitched
- The most viewed Southern Charm-related story was about cast member Cameran Eubanks’s wedding.
- Meet the Cast of “Southern Charm”
- Before the show even debuted, the city just couldn’t get enough of Southern Charm. This entry introduced Charleston to the cast.
- Cast of Southern Charm Slowly Being Confirmed
- Thomas Ravenel was the first confirmed cast member, but this post confirmed (via FITS News) the inclusion of Shep Rose and Whitney Sudler-Smith
- More Southern Charm Casting Rumors
- The next batch of casting rumors came from a confidential source, who said Craig Conover and J.D. Madison would be on the show. The source’s information turned out to be accurate.
- Mad River Unexpectedly Shutters
- Holy City Sinner was the first to report on the abrupt November closing of downtown stalwart Mad River.
- Charleston Named Top City in U.S.; 2nd Best in the World
- For the fourth consecutive year, the Holy City was named the “Top City in the United States” in Conde Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards. In addition, Charleston was tabbed as the second best city in the world.
- “Southern Charm” Commercial Making the Rounds on Bravo
- In January residents flocked to Holy City Sinner to view the first Southern Charm commercial and read the official press release from Bravo.
- Awkward News 2 Clip Ends up on Comedy Central’s “Tosh.0″
- Poor Kyle Dennis. The News 2 meteorologist made a comment during a broadcast that could be easily misconstrued…and comedian Daniel Tosh made sure it was.
