the-great-invisible-posterjpg-bd64c6072336724aThis Monday, the American Theater will host a 6 pm screening of “The Great Invisible,” a documentary on the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion.

The film uses stories from oil executives, survivors, and Gulf Coast residents to show the effects the disaster had on nearby communities. You can see the official movie trailer below.

Local experts and elected officials will be at the screening to talk about the possible detrimental affects offshore drilling would have in South Carolina. They will also answer any questions attendees have. Tickets are a $5 suggested donation and will be available at the door.

The screening is being hosted by Charleston Surfrider, Coastal Conservation League, and Natural Investments, in partnership with Oceana, Conservation Voters of South Carolina, South Carolina Wildlife Federation, Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, and the Southern Environmental Law Center.

The American Theater is located at 446 King Street. Click here for more information.
