Charleston Brown Water Society Brings Back the Summer BBQ Invitational
After a successful inaugural event last year, the Charleston Brown Water Society (CBWS) is bringing back the Summer BBQ Invitational on Sunday, July 12th. The “whiskey-focused, non-profit” organization will once again host the party at Holy City Brewing at 4 pm.
This year’s participants are Pat Martin of Martins Bar-B-Que Joint in Nashville, TN; Mike and Amy Mills of 17th Street BBQ in Illinois; and Charleston’s Aaron Siegel, Taylor Garrigan, and Madison Ruckel from Home Team BBQ.
Each of the pitmasters will cook up a different cut, while sides and drinks will also be available. Holy City Brewery and local bartenders will be serving beer and spirits from the brewery, Medley Bros, Smith Ambler, and more. Plus, Kelly Chu of Aya Cookhouse and Red Orchid’s will have special ice creams for you to enjoy.
The event costs $60 per person, which includes one round of food. A VIP ticket wll also be available. This option includes:
- Two meals
- Access to the CBWS VIP Tent
- Access to a special bar run by Alba Huerta from The Nightingale Room, The Pastry War, and Julep ofHouston, TX
The VIP ticket is $150.

Unlike most of the other events held at Holy City Brewing, you must be 21 and older to attend. Tickets may be purchased here.

Can’t WAIT to do this again, HCS! We had so much fun last year. Also, I’m happy to see they added a third BBQ crew in HT to provide more meats. Lines were redics last year.
