Charleston to Host James Beard Foundation’s 3rd Annual Taste America Tour
The James Beard Foundation’s 3rd “Taste America: Local Flavor from Coast To Coast” national tour will stop in the Holy City on September 25th and 26th. Charleston is one of ten American cities that receive a visit.
Things kick off on Friday at The Cedar Room inside The Cigar Factory with A Night of Culinary Stars, an exclusive dining event benefiting the James Beard Foundation. The evening starts with a reception featuring cocktails and hors d’oeuvres from local chefs and restaurateurs, including Host Chef Jeremiah Bacon (The Macintosh), Craig Deihl (Cypress), Kevin Johnson (The Grocery), Josh Keeler (Two Boroughs Larder), and James Beard Award-winner Jason Stanhope (FIG).
Afterwards, guests will enjoy a dinner prepared by two James Beard Award-winning chefs, Art Smith (Table Fifty-Two in Chicago), and Charleston’s Mike Lata (The Ordinary). Pastry Chef Lauren Mitterer (WildFlour Pastry) will provide the dessert.
The James Beard Foundation will donate a portion of the evening’s proceeds to the Taste America Scholarship Fund. Tickets may be purchased here.
On Saturday, a free cooking demo by Smith will take place at Le Creuset’s headquarters at 116 Ripley Point Drive. Reservations for the free cooking demo will begin two weeks prior to the event at jbftasteamerica.org.
There will also be in-store consumer events on Saturday at Le Creuset’s retail store located at 112 N. Market Street.
