Whole Foods Market To Open Store in Charleston

Published

on

wholefoodsEarlier today, Whole Foods Market announced that the company will be opening a new store in Charleston.

The rumored site for the new store is the soon-to-be vacated Morris Sokol Furniture spot at 510 King Street, Whole Foods did not immediately release the new store’s location. According to The Post & Courier, the city is planning a 600-plus space parking deck behind the furniture store. This has fueled the earlier speculation that Whole Foods will end up in that space.

No opening date was announced either.

The Charleston area is already home to one Whole Foods Market – there’s a store in Mount Pleasant’s Patriots Plaza Shopping Center.

Wouldn’t the proposed grocery store at WestEdge make more sense?

Publix is going in WestEdge. That’s already a done deal.

Summerville. Downtown makes no sense, as it is only a few miles from the current store, and the population is not there to support it. Summerville (and nearby areas) are have the demographics and growth to support such a store.
