Freeze Your Bills Off at the Bill Murray Look-a-Like Polar Plunge

On Friday, January 1st at 12 pm, the 3rd annual Bill Murray Look-a-Like Polar Bear Plunge will take place in front of the Tides Hotel on Folly Beach. As you can probably tell from the event’s title, the plunge will once again pay homage to the Holy City’s favorite resident – Mr. Bill Murray.

All attendees are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite Bill Murray character and prepare to “freeze their Bills off.”  Registration begins at noon while the Bill Murray Look-a-Like Contest begins at 1 pm. A panel of judges will give out awards for Best Guy, Best Girl, Best Team, and Best Overall Bill Murray. The plunge into the icy Atlantic Ocean goes down at 2 pm.

Plenty of Folly restaurants and bars will be open early so guests can enjoy some pre-plunge drinks. Participating businesses include: Woody’s, Rita’s Seaside Grille, St. James Gate, The Grill & Island Bar, Chico Feo, Folly Beach Crab Shack, Jack of Cups, Loggerheads, Drop In Deli, Planet Follywood, Blu, Locklear’s and Snapper Jack’s.  A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit Folly Beach charities.
