2016 Taste of Charleston Events Announced
The Taste of Charleston, one of the Holy City’s most anticipated events, will be held from Friday, September 23rd through Sunday the 25th.
So far, the 36th annual version of the event will include:
Friday, September 23rd
- 6 pm to 9 pm: Iron Chef Competition at the Gaillard Center
- A culinary competition between local chefs
- There will be two teams (one team will consist of a hospital chef and a restaurant chef) competing to see who can produce the best dishes including the secret ingredient
- Viewers can enjoy beer, wine, and heavy hors d’oeuvres during the event
- A culinary competition between local chefs
Sunday, September 25th
- 10 am to 5 pm: The Main Event at Boone Hall Plantation
- Forty of the Lowcountry’s favorite restaurants serving sample size portions and beer/wine
- The Cooking Well Village
- Cooking demos
- Hospital chefs competing
- Specialty and imported beer tasting tent
- Live music by Cowboy Mouth
- The popular “Waiters’ Race”
- “Kid’s Kitchen Sideshow”
A portion of the main event’s proceeds will benefit the following charities: The Ronald McDonald House, Hollings Cancer Center, Shriners Hospitals for Children, and Charleston County Schools Science Materials Resource Center
