Be A Mentor Announces Honorees for the 2016 Going Places Gala
Be a Mentor has announced the honorees for the 4th annual Going Places Gala, which will be held on Thursday, November 3rd at Founders Hall in Charles Towne Landing.
This year’s honorees include:
- John Kresse
- College of Charleston men’s basketball head coach (1979-2002)
- Earned the Lapchick Character Award in 2014
- Barbara Kelley-Duncan
- CEO of the Carolina Youth Development Center from 2003-2016
- Currently serves on advisory boards for numerous organizations across South Carolina
- Kevin L. Smith
- Principal at C.E. Williams Middle School
- Vice chairperson of Charleston County School District’s Diversity and Inclusion Strategic Committee

Be A Mentor is “an in-school mentoring program that works to instill youth with confidence, build social and emotional skills, and ensure that every child in the Lowcountry has a caring adult in their lives.” You can learn more about the organization on their website.
