Get a “Taste of the World” on November 3rd
On Thursday, November 3rd, Charleston residents will once again be able to travel the world without leaving the confines of the Omar Shrine Auditorium. That’s because the venue will be hosting “Taste of the World,” a culinary event featuring samples of Caribbean, Mediterranean, Latin, American, Asian, India, and Italian cuisines.
The 11th installment of event will once again raise funds for the Charleston Port & Seafarers’ Society, an organization that serves the needs of men and women who make their livelihood in the port or at sea. This year is the group’s 195th anniversary as a charitable organization.
The Charleston Port Society was originally established in 1821 to raise money to purchase a building for use as a “Mariners’ Church” within the Holy City. The church was eventually built at 50 Church Street and it was there that the organization’s true mission of welcoming seafarers’ from around the world began.
This year’s “Taste of the World” event will feature a silent auction and a variety of cuisines from some of Charleston’s best restaurants. Some of the participating restaurant’s include:
- Halls Chophouse
- Saveurs Du Monde
- Taziki’s Mediterranean Cafe
- Slightly North of Broad and many more
Tickets to the event are $60 each. For more information, click here.
