ltn15_toolkit_logo2The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) aims to stomp out blood cancers through the Light The Night Walk, which is held in more than 200 communities across the country. The Lowcountry Light version of the event will be held Thursday, November 10th at the Grove at Patriot’s Point in Mount Pleasant.

Things kick off at 5:30 pm with music, food, ceremonies, and plenty of activities. At 7 pm, participants will set off on a leisurely 1-mile walk followed by a special remembrance ceremony.

Participants are encouraged to raise at least $100 to become “Champions for Cures.” Champions receive the a short-sleeved t-shirt, an illuminated lantern, and night-of benefits including food provided by Zaxby’s restaurants. Those who raise $1,000 or more join the “Bright Lights Club” and receive a special long-sleeve shirt and access to the VIP area.

The Light the Night Walk funds life-saving research and support for people battling cancer. Approximately one million people in the United States are living with – or are in remission from – a blood cancer. Thanks to nationwide participation in these types of walks, LLS has been able to invest more than $1 billion in research to advance breakthrough cancer treatments that are saving lives today.
