The Arts Center for Engagement (A.C.E) seeks donations to help fund their creative summer camp.

Co-hosted by Enough Pie, the A.C.E. Summer Camp will celebrate self-love and self-acceptance through song, dance, drawing, and writing. With the help of local creatives, residents of the Bridgeview Village, ages 7-13, will have the opportunity explore performing, creative, and multimedia arts July 18-27.

“The arts are so important. Every child deserves [this exposure], so I’m starting with the kids of Bridgeview,” says Acecily “Ace” Alexander, Founder and Camp Director of A.C.E.

As Charleston School of the Arts grad and former resident of Bridgview, Alexander knows how influential and inspiring the arts can be to children. “The kids of the Upper Peninsula are naturally talented,” she added. “But there’s not a lot of opportunity for them to express that creativity over the summer.”

Through her partnership with Enough Pie, she is excited to offer this free summer camp at Bridgeview. However, Alexander, solicits community support to meet a fundraising goal of $2500. “Eventually I will bring the arts into the lives of kids all over Charleston, but I need the community’s help to start here…at Bridgeview.”

With donations, A.C.E and Enough Pie will be able to provide lunch, visual and performing arts lessons, and fund a student-produced music video. As part of the programs curriculum, campers will:

  • Compose an original song
  • Choreograph and perform a dance
  • Hands-on art making
  • Assist in the production and filming of a music video

The music video will be showcased at National Night Out on Tuesday, August 1. Registration for the A.C.E Summer Camp is required, and is opened to 20 residents. Tax deductible donations can be made online at enoughpie.org/donate. ; Donors are asked to enter A.C.E. Summer Camp in the business line. Checks can also be mailed to 1630 Meeting Street Rd., Charleston, 29405. Please include A.C.E Summer Camp in the memo.
