Marine To Be Awarded Bronze Star 48 Years after Heroic Action in Vietnam
On Thursday, August 3, during Patriot Point Naval & Maritime Museum’s free symposium on the Magnificent Bastards of the 2nd Battalion 4th Marines, a member of the battalion will be awarded a Bronze Star Medal for valor in combat resulting from his actions during battle on January 30, 1969 in the Republic of Vietnam.
The award will be presented to Lance Corporal Michael G. Castle by Medal of Honor Recipient Maj. Gen. James E. Livingston and Navy Cross Recipient Brig. Gen. William Weise.
