Local Carriages Companies Team Up for Open House Saturday
Old South Carriage Company announced today that it will partner with Charleston Carriage Works and Palmetto Carriage Works in a “Charleston Carriage Horses Help Horses in Need” event Saturday, August 5th, 2017 from 10 am – 5 pm. Each company will donate $1 for every ticket sold to benefit local horse rescues. This FREE event includes education on Equine Care and Management as well as Horse Rescue Needs. Activities will vary from barn to barn.
“The health and welfare of carriage horses is a topic of interest to many Charleston residents,” stated David J. and Debbie Compton, owners of Old South Carriage Company. “Through our community outreach program, we intend to inform and communicate information about our own best practices and standards for equine excellence. Our goal with this event is to educate others and support the real needs of horses who have suffered neglect or abandonment. We have been giving carriage tours for over three decades and take great pride in our staff, horses, facilities, and practices. We look forward to welcoming the community to see our operation.”
For this event, Old South has partnered with H.O.P.E. Acres Rescue who will be in attendance to discuss their horse care and rehabilitation facility located in Summerville. In addition to donating a portion of Saturday’s revenues, any person who adds a contribution to H.O.P.E. Rescue will have the opportunity to enter a sweepstakes to win a special personalized carriage tour experience. Other activities include a behind-the- scenes “Meet the Horses” experience, barn tours, discussions with Old South staff, and refreshments.
