On Friday, August 18th, ESPN commentator and journalist Kate Fagan will be the featured author at the latest Blue Bicycle Books Charleston Author Series Luncheon at High Cotton.

Fagan will be celebrating the release of her new book, What Made Maddy Run, the heartbreaking and vital story of track athlete Maddy Holleran, whose suicide rocked the University of Pennsylvania campus and whose life reveals the struggle of young people suffering from mental illness today.

She’ll be in conversation with Kathryn Budig, her girlfriend and co-host of ESPN‘s podcast Free Cookies. A former Charleston resident and host of the annual “Downward-Facing RiverDog” event at Joe Riley Stadium, Budig is an internationally-acclaimed yoga teacher and writer.

Fagan is a writer for espnW, ESPN.com, and ESPN The Magazine. She is a regular panelist on Around the Horn, Outside the Lines, First Take and His & Hers.
