Folly Boat Taken For a Ride by Tropical Storm Irma

Published

on

Twenty-eight years after Hurricane Hugo left it alongside Folly Road, the beloved Folly Boat has been washed away (at least temporarily) by Tropical Storm Irma.

Two Facebook videos (which you can see below) posted by Chris John show the boat coming to rest alongside the dock outside his home. The Post and Courier reports that the dock is located between James Island and Folly Beach.

According to Harve Jacobs from Live 5 News, John and a friend were able to tie the boat up. It appears the Charleston icon is secure for now!

ABC News 4’s Caroline Balchunas caught up with John after the boat was secured. You can watch the story here.
