Awaken Church to Open Second Location
Awaken Church started out as a small group Bible study in the living room of lead pastor, Brandon Bowers. From the very beginning, the church has had the singular focus of helping people begin a relationship with God while also developing solid relationships with each other.
“We believe that the greatest way to live out our faith is to ‘love God and love each other.” – Lead Pastor Brandon Bowers
Over the past three years, Awaken Church has rented space in three different locations to have worship services. Despite the challenges faced from being portable and moving to different locations, Awaken has grown from 1 small group of nine people to over 50 small groups now meeting throughout the Charleston Metro area. In May of 2016, we moved into our own permanent facility in North Charleston to host new individuals and families every week. Over 700 people weekly attend Awaken Church as they continue to reach people from all different faith backgrounds and influences.
On Sunday, September 24, Awaken Church will open the doors of its second location at Summerville High School. There are thousands of people in Berkeley and Dorchester County who want to make friends, find faith, and find a church who will help them connect with God and with people. We believe that Awaken Summerville will do just that. “My life-change is a product of the care structure of Awaken Church. I’m excited for the people of Summerville to experience the same!” – Campus Pastor Stephen Loadholdt
The people of Summerville have already experienced a taste of the care from Awaken Church. Awaken Summerville sponsored the Inflatables Area at the Red, White, and Blue on the Green event hosted by the town of Summerville. At this event, 50 Awaken Church volunteers served the community and provided balloon animals, cold water, face painting, and entertainment to hundreds of families. “I was drawn to the people running the stations at the Red, White, and Blue on the Green event. They didn’t hesitate to give their personal contact information to help my family and I get connected to a small group. That experience alone reminded me of home!” – Devan Hairston, Summerville Resident
Everyone is invited to join us for our Public Launch on September 24. Service will begin at 10:00AM. The church is located at Summerville High School, 1101 Boonehill Dr, Summerville, SC 29483. For more information on Awaken Church or the Summerville Campus, please visit awakenchurch.cc.
