Ten Things You Should Know About Lowcountry Giving Day (9/19)

Published

on

Tuesday, September 19th is Lowcountry Giving Day, the largest nonprofit festival in South Carolina. The revamped event still encourages residents to donate to local nonprofits online, but for the first time ever, the event will include a festival at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park. The entire day will benefit 140 nonprofit organizations, which impact 1.7 million people across the tri-county area.

Here are 10 things you should know:

  1. There are three ways to donate
    • By showing up to The Joe with cash
    • Donating online at rally.text.gives/lgd17
    • Dropping off a check at any South State Bank location
  2. Over 20 local musicians will perform in the stadium, including Stop Light Observations, Matt Monday, Lindsay Holler, and Whitehall
  3. Three comedians will perform standup comedy from on top of the dugout from 7:30 until 9 pm
  4. 140 nonprofits will have booths set up all day long for members of the community to come visit, engage, and donate
  5. The first 200 guest who arrive will be gifted swag bags with goodies including t-shirts from There’s No Place Like Charleston
  6. Animal nonprofits will have pets available for adoption at the event
  7. Activities will be on site, such as games, art walls, and stickers for kids and adults alike to enjoy
  8. There will be a live raffle including jewelry from Our Spare Change
  9. The Riverdogs will have concessions available for purchase at The Dog House
  10. There will be a Service Project station where guests can volunteer part of their time during the day to give back to one of the featured nonprofit organizations

Please note that, due to Hurricane Irma, some original parts of the event have had to change: Lowcountry Giving Day will now start at 3 pm and the education portion of the Day has been  removed. For more information, visit Facebook.com/lowcountrygivingday.
