Get Your Knives Sharpened for Charity at The Coastal Cupboard

Published

on

An opportunity to sharpen your kitchen knives this weekend will also serve as a great way to help feed families in need this Thanksgiving. The Coastal Cupboard in Mount Pleasant’s Belle Hall Shopping Center will host its Semi-Annual Charity Knife Sharpening Event on October 13-15, 2017 from 10am-5pm Friday and Saturday, and 12pm-4pm Sunday.

The event benefits the Charleston Basket Brigade, a local nonprofit on a mission to feed 3,500 Charleston area families this Thanksgiving. Get your knives professionally sharpened for just $1 per knife and every dollar goes towards feeding Lowcountry families in need on Thanksgiving through the Basket Brigade. Please note: there is no limit to how many knives you can bring, but they cannot sharpen serrated knives (knives with teeth).

Owner of The Coastal Cupboard, Brad Pitner said, “This is a great opportunity to do something you’ve been thinking of doing all year: sharpening up those kitchen knives. But if you do it this weekend at our store, you can help local families need. This is always a fun and busy charity event, thanks to the support of the community.”

In addition to putting a new edge on your knives, guests can check out interactive stations at The Coastal Cupboard with knife skills demonstrations, delicious samples, cutlery specials, and more. You will also be able to save 20% off the lowest marked prices on the best cutlery brands in the industry: Wusthof, Shun, Henckels, Miyabi, Messermeister, Global, Victorinox, Kyocera… (SALE: October 1st-October 15th) Middleton Made Knives and all Block Sets are excluded.

The Charleston Basket Brigade is rallying the community to help raise $105,000 in order to feed 3,500 families (approximately 21,000 people) in the Charleston Tri-County area.

It only takes $30 to feed a family of six and every penny donated is utilized to purchase food. Each family receives a box of food to cook an entire Thanksgiving meal including a 10-12 lb. turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, fresh rolls, and a pumpkin pie. Inside the box is an anonymous letter that reads, “This comes to you from someone who cares about you. All we ask is that you take care of yourself well enough to be able to do this for someone else one day.”

The 10th Annual Charleston Basket Brigade will take place on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at the Charleston Area Convention Center Exhibit Hall A. The community is invited to help assemble meals and pick up meals to deliver to the benefitting families by signing up to volunteer at www.charlestonbasketbrigade.com.

Co-founder of the Charleston Basket Brigade, Pam Hartley said, “We’re so grateful that The Coastal Cupboard chose to help the Charleston Basket Brigade again this year. Their hard work on our behalf ensures almost 1000 local residents have a meal on Thanksgiving and we couldn’t do it without them.”
