Leftovers: Tidbits from the Food & Bev Community (11/10/17)
I created the “Leftovers” series to ensure I could share as much food and bev news as possible, so here’s the latest:
- On November 16th, High Wire Distilling Co. will host a meet and greet with Sara Camp Milam and Jerry Slater, co-authors of the newly released The Southern Foodways Alliance Guide to Cocktails. Your ticket entitles you to a signed copy of the book, two cocktails, and a reading of selected passages from the authors. A companion ticket is also available for those who already have a copy of the book. Tickets are available for purchase here.

- Tristan Catering + Events has formally announced its partnership with Pour Taproom. In this collaboration, Tristan Catering + Events will manage all food service for the 115-seat rooftop restaurant and bar. Occupying the entire top floor of the Hyatt Hotel at 560 King St., including a rooftop deck, Pour Taproom is one of the largest self-service tap rooms in the country featuring 70 taps, including 55 beers, eight wines, seven craft cocktails and five ciders.
– Mex 1 Coastal Cantina’s Morgan Hurley was crowned the winner of Charleston Wine + Food’s 2018 Cocktail Competition at the Souls + Saints event on November 1st. Hurley competed against fellow finalists Patti Smith of 5Church, Dan Williams of The Darling Oyster Bar, and Shannon Standhart of Mex 1 Coastal Cantina, as they served up their tequila-inspired cocktail creations to a panel of four judges.
- On Wednesday, November 15th, Wild Dunes will host a guided whiskey and oyster tasting event at Coastal Provisions at 5:30 pm. Led by industry experts, participants will explore five unique oyster preparations, paired with two whiskey selections per course.
