Here’s the organization’s explanation of the event:
“In calling for Electoral Justice, we are advocating for stronger voter protections via equitable and just voting rights. We are calling for the removal of structural and financial barriers that impede women, women of color and all members of marginalized communities from running for office. We are calling for an end to voter suppression. We are demanding that our governing bodies be more reflective of the people they serve. It is our goal to truly democratize the electoral process and to achieve justice for all of us.
In keeping with its theme, this event is designed to energize and mobilize attendees in preparation for statewide elections taking place in 2018. The event also will center its messaging in the experiences of citizens from marginalized communities and will stress the importance of their voices being heard and their needs being met.”
