Charleston’s Tillman Honor Run to be held on April 21st
On Saturday, April 21st, the Arizona State University Alumni South Carolina Club will host a Tillman Honor Run, a 4.2 mile run-or-walk fundraiser to support the Tillman Scholar program.
Pat Tillman, an ASU graduate, gave up a pro football career with the Arizona Cardinals to enlist in the Army following the September 11th terrorist attacks. He served tours of Iraq and Afghanistan with the Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment. on the evening of April 22, 2004, his unit was ambushed in a canyon in eastern Afghanistan and Tillman died while providing cover for fellow soldiers.
Founded in 2004, the Pat Tillman Foundation invests in military veterans and their spouses through academic scholarships. The ASU Alumni Association, in support of the Pat Tillman Foundation, coordinates Tillman Honor Runs, hosted by Alumni Chapters and Clubs around the United States.
Tillman Honor Runs are casual, family-friendly fun-runs. All are welcome to come together with ASU alumni, fans, and members of the military community to remember and honor the legacy of Pat Tillman.
