Leftovers: Tidbits from the Food & Bev Community (1/26/18)

I created the “Leftovers” series to ensure I could share as much food and bev news as possible, so here’s the latest:

  1. NICO will start weekend lunch service on Saturday, February 3rd.  Lunch will be offered Saturday and Sunday only from noon to 4 pm. There will be $1.50 oysters and Bloody Mary and Mimosa specials.  The menu will be the same as the dinner menu.

  2. Toast! Is celebrating its 13th birthday with Throwback Toast Pricing featuring 2005 prices on signature breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu items and a classic breakfast and short stack combination with juice or coffee for $13.The celebration begins January 27th and the special pricing will continue at Toast!, Toast of Summerville and Toast of West Ashley through Wednesday, February 14th.   3. Congress will be celebrating their 2nd anniversary on Friday, February 2nd, from 5pm-10pm. The restaurant will be offering happy hour food & drink specials all night long. They’ll also have some tapas specials and surprise treats throughout the evening. Congress is located at 1035 Johnnie Dodds Blvd. in Mount Pleasant, SC
  4. Wild Dunes Resort will host its “Slow Food Showdown: A Down of Wines & Rices” event at Coastal Provisions on Saturday, January 27th from 1-4 pm.Chef Read Wolfe and Sous Chefs Scott Wilson and Josh Begley will be hosting a creative competition to honor the South Carolina Lowcountry’s rich history of agriculture and rice production. Each chef will prepare a traditional rice-based dish and attendees will taste and judge each, selecting one winner to be awarded “People’s Choice.” Courses will be complimented with wine pairings from Klinker Brick Winery.Tickets ate $40 each and reservations can be made by calling 843.886.2200.   5. Lowcountry AIDS Services is hosting its first Pint of Hope this year on February 1st at Charles Towne Fermentory in West Ashley. This event also kicks off ticket sales for the 2018 Charleston Beer Garden set for May 19th at The Grove at Patriots Point; festival proceeds benefit Lowcountry AIDS Services.The Pint of Hope event is 4-9 pm at 809 Savannah Highway. Charles Towne Fermentory will donate $1 from each pint sold back to Lowcountry AIDS Services. Click here for more info.
  6. “Glazed After Dark” returns to Glazed Gourmet Doughnuts tonight. The shop will be open until 2 am every Friday and Saturday night through March so you can enjoy your usual favorites plus some late night boozy doughnuts.Doughnuts with booze infused fillings and glazes like the Mudslide featuring Kahlua and Baileys or the Pina Colada infused with coconut rum will show up on the late night menu. Glazed will also offer at least one Gluten Free doughnut every Friday. Click here for more info.
  7. Chad Biel, Bohemian Bull’s long time General Manager, has taken ownership of the Folly Road
    restaurant from founder Dave Lorenz. Biel officially took ownership from Lorenz on January 2nd, 2018.
  8. Edmund’s Oast Brewing Co. and Edmund’s Oast Exchange are both have some Super Bowl-related offerings:
    • Edmund’s Oast Brewing Co. will have the following items available to go:
      • Special Super Bowl Party Platter: 20 whole wings for $20, 40 whole wings for $35, and 100 whole wings for $80
      • $2 off select 4 packs
