Umphrey’s McGee and Perpetual Groove play The Grove at Patriots Point in May
Progressive rock road warriors Umphrey’s McGee return to Charleston with special guests Perpetual Groove on Thursday, May 31st at The Grove at Patriots Point.
The headliners are celebrating their 20th Anniversary and show no signs of slowing down. The band just released their eleventh full-length album, it’s not us, in January.
The concert is expected to have a festival feel with food vendors, multiple bars, art, and activities. VIP Tickets include a VIP Lounge, upgraded private restrooms, preferred stage view, and a private VIP Bar (2 drinks included).
The event, hosted by Friends With Benefits Productions (FWBpro), will give back to the Charleston community by partnering with Communities In Schools Charleston and Redux Contemporary Art Center. A portion of proceeds will be donated to the former, while FWBpro will work with Redux to activate the festival grounds. They will provide interactive art installations and activities throughout the event.
The Official (21+) Late Night Afterparty will immediately follow Umphrey’s McGee’s show at the nearby Omar Shrine building. The celebration will include a brand new collaboration called DOOM FLAMINGO between Umphrey’s bassist and Charleston resident Ryan Stasik, and a mix of standout Charleston musicians including Michael Quinn [sax], Ross Bogan [keys], Stuart White [drums], Thomas Kenney [guitar], and Kanika Moore [vocals]. Local psychedelic rock outfit The Artisanals fronted by Johnny Delaware (formerly of SUSTO) will open the Afterparty festivities before DOOM FLAMINGO’s synth-wave dance party. You’ll need a ticket to the main event in order to attend this late night event.
Tickets go on sale Friday, March 2nd at 10 am. Click here for more info.
