on

On Thursday, May 3rd, The Invisible Illness, a nonprofit created by a local woman, will host its inaugural benefit event at the Woolfe Street Playhouse from 6 pm to 9 pm.

The event includes live music from local band City on Down, food, a cash bar, a silent auction, raffles, and more. The auction and raffle include items from Mission Yoga, The Macintosh, Nectar, Marc Jacobs, Kate Spade, and more.

Tickets are $30 when purchased online and $35 at the door. Funds raised from this event will go toward the organization’s mental health workshops.

The Invisible Illnesses is dedicated to reducing the stigma surrounding mental health by providing a public platform for individuals who have been affected by mental illness and suicide to share their stories and connect with others. The Invisible Illnesses exists to educate, encourage, and inform students to reach out for help through free mental health workshops. The organization was founded by Charleston’s Emily Torchiana, a College of Charleston graduate. Her work earned her the prestigious Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Award for Public Service at the Jefferson Awards Foundation’s National Gala in June 2017.

The Woolfe Street Playhouse is located at 34 Woolfe Street in downtown Charleston.
