Friday is Wear Blue Day to Show a Visible Commitment to Preventing Child Abuse

The Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center is rallying the Lowcountry in support of National Child Abuse Prevention Month this April. One initiative they are championing this month is Wear Blue Day.

On Friday, April 6th, individuals and organizations across the US will bond together to make a visible commitment to preventing child abuse by wearing blue on that day. Those participating should take a picture and share it on social media using the #WearBlueDay hashtag.

In addition to seeing lots people wearing blue, you may also notice one of the multiple “pinwheel gardens” located around the Holy City. In 2008, Prevent Child Abuse America introduced the pinwheel as the national symbol for child abuse prevention through Pinwheels for Prevention. People respond to the pinwheel as it symbolizes the carefree spirit of great childhoods. Dee Norton uses them to provide a strong visible presence of our community’s commitment to preventing child abuse and neglect.
