CPAC Presents “The Also-Ran (For the Benefit of Miss Jennie Gourlay)” for Piccolo Spoleto
The Charleston Performing Arts Center presents, The Also-Ran (For the Benefit of Miss Jennie Gourlay) for the 2018 Piccolo Spoleto Festival.
Broadway actor and costumer Billy Hipkins stars in an original one-man production that takes a fresh look at the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln—really, it does. The show focuses on the life of Jennie Gourlay, an actress poised to star at Ford’s Theater before John Wilkes Booth killed the President, and with him, Gourlay’s dreams of stardom. Hear her story, his story, and a bit of theatre history in this witty and touching production.
C-PAC is located at 873 Folly Road on James Island, just under a mile from the James Island Connector. They have convenient parking located in the rear of the facility and overflow parking is available at Hen & the Goat and Verizon Wireless with sidewalk access to the theatre. C-PAC is a cozy, 70-seat cabaret-style theatre, reminiscent of a 1940’s speakeasy. “Table Tootsies” serve wine, cocktails, snacks and desserts tableside.
