12th Annual Charleston Duck Race Set for June 8th

Published

on

The 12th annual Charleston Duck Race for charity will be held on Friday, June 8th at Smythe Lake Park on Daniel Island beginning at 6 pm.

The event includes cash prizes, food trucks, face painters, balloon artists, live music from Plane Jane, and of course, the rubber duck race. Charlestonians can “adopt” a duck (or ducks) and win cash prizes for a top-tier finish. Approximately 30,000 rubber ducks will be dropped into the Smythe Park Lake, assisted by Charleston Fire department hoses, with prizes awarded for the first 7 ducks to cross the finish line. First prize is $10,000!

Proceeds from the duck race are used to fund Rotary community service programs locally and around the world. Each of the participating Rotary clubs is designating one or more Lowcountry charities as beneficiaries of the duck race. These charities focus on health and wellness, hunger and nutrition, housing and shelter, children and families, and education and literacy. Over the past 11 years, this event has raised over $1,400,000 for local beneficiaries and Rotary projects worldwide.
