Chubby Fish Set to Open Friday
Chubby Fish, the highly-anticipated downtown “boutique seafood concept” from chef/partner James London and restaurateur Geoff Shyatt will finally open to the public on Friday, June 22nd at 5 pm. Located at 252 Coming Street, on the corner of Bogard Street in Elliotborough, Chubby Fish is set to serve guests a menu of locally-sourced seafood.
South Carolina natives Shyatt and London say they saw an opportunity in the Charleston dining scene for a restaurant that “offers fresh, Lowcountry sustainable seafood with chef-driven, innovative preparations and without a fine dining price point.”
Chubby Fish will partner with local fishermen and will showcase one of these partners each month for a Fishermen’s Supper Series. The standard menu features a raw bar, small plates, entrées, whole fish, butcher cuts, meats, and sides. Options will change daily based on the availability of seafood and produce. The beverage menu will feature a curated wine list and a regional canned beer selection. You can see a sample menu here.
The restaurant will be open Tuesday through Thursday evenings from 5 pm – 10 pm, and Friday and Saturday from 5 pm – 11 pm with plans to add lunch and brunch service in the future.
