Fitness Instructors Offering Free Camp to Children from Local Group Home
Fitness instructors with Stryke Fitness are wrapping up a summer camp program helping children with the Lowcountry Orphan Relief, an agency supporting children who suffer from abandonment, abuse, or neglect. The program is designed to build strength, confidence, and teach the children the value of staying physically and mentally strong.
“Being able to help these children, who live in a group home, cultivate their strength by physically and mentally working their bodies, helps them have focus and purpose when faced with their daily challenges. These kids need engagement and people who can meet them at their level,” said Stryke Fitness co-owner Erin Mansour.
Stryke Fitness is a combination of mixed martial arts fight moves, dance, and popular music for a fun and one of a kind workout! The classes have been hosted for the LOR children at Trident Technical College. Interested media is welcome to attend the final class of the summer camp series on Monday, June 25 at 2:30 pm, located at Building 920 Room 107. (The easiest access to building 920 is to turn on College St. or Marigold St.)
“The children have loved the program so far and have asked me when they will get to do it again. It’s important for me to give back to these children because they are our future. They need love and to feel love. To go in there and know we are changing their lives and giving them hope is absolutely priceless,” said Mansour.
Stryke Fitness will celebrate its two-year anniversary event and fundraiser on August 25th, benefitting LOR and its annual “Night for New Beginnings Gala” (hosted Sept. 7, 2018 at the Gaillard Center.) The public is invited August 25th to check out the Stryke Fitness studios, try free classes, shop local vendors, and bid in a silent auction.
Donations and auction proceeds will benefit LOR. Stryke Fitness is located in the Otranto Plaza at 8780-C Rivers Avenue Suite 302 in North Charleston.
