The kids are out for summer and parents everywhere are searching for family-friendly vacation destinations that offer fun for all ages. Wild Dunes Resort, A Destination Hotel has announced its new Dune Bug Clubs for kids, offering a variety of educational and engaging activities ranging from archeology to beach Olympics to marine biology. With Wild Dunes Resort’s Hot Deals and rates from $99/night on select dates through Labor Day, there is no better time than summer for families to experience a Charleston beach getaway steeped in Lowcountry culture.

“We love being able to offer children of all ages a fun collection of new summer programs through our Dune Bug Clubs” shares Wild Dunes Resort’s Recreation Manager Will Smith. “With activities for every age and interest, parents are guaranteed to find something for every child that gives mom and dad some relaxing, adult one-on-one time.”

Led by The Historic Charleston Foundation, the Lil’ Charlestonians Dune Bug Club gives kids the chance to learn about the Lowcountry art of Indigo Dyeing and even make a shirt of their own, in addition to dig for artifacts and hear traditional Gullah stories and legends. Other Dune Bug Clubs include Mad Scientist in which kids experiment with 11 kooky science projects, Beach Olympics featuring a shell scavenger hunt, Lil’ Marine Biologist offering a four-hour boat ride to explore the Lowcountry marsh, catch blue crabs and fish, Lil’ Blackbeard for adventure seekers looking to embark on a real treasure hunt and Kayaking.

Perfect for an escape from the rain or heat, families can also partake in the resort’s Recreation Room Service that brings activities like “Build-a-Buddy” stuffed animals or “Beach Sun Catchers” right to guests’ rooms. Also not-to-be missed are Family Nights every Tuesday on The Plaza, complete with live music, games, food and local vendors. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday the resort hosts Movie and Game Nights, also on the Village Plaza, offering fun games like cornhole, ping pong, giant Jenga and bingo for families to enjoy before a flick under the stars. Finally, those looking to escape the heat and humidity can seek shelter with arts and crafts time at Creations Under the Cabana every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, led by the resort’s Island Adventures recreation team.
