Bring your Dog to the Waterpark in September

Published

on

All summer long, your pups have to wait at home while you enjoy the waterparks without them. Well, every dog has his day, and this year, they have two – thanks to Dog Day Afternoons this September! The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission (CCPRC) is dedicating two days this summer to our furry friends by opening up the water parks after the regular season ends.

On Saturday, September 8th, Splash Island Waterpark at Palmetto Islands County Park in Mount Pleasant will open for dogs and their owners to enjoy fun in the sun! Due to the high demand for tickets to this event, Splash Island will host two sessions with 400 tickets available for each session. The first session will be from 10 am to 12 pm with the second session following from 1 pm to 3 pm. Tickets are $8 per dog in advance and $10 at the gate if still available. Dog owners are admitted free into the Dog Day Afternoon event with their pets; the regular $2 per person park fee will still apply.

If one day in the water just wasn’t enough for your pooches, Whirlin’ Waters Adventure Waterpark will open their gates the following day for their 10th annual Dog Day Afternoon! Dogs and their owners are invited to come and explore Whirlin’ Waters on Sunday, September 9th at this waterpark located at North Charleston Wannamaker County Park. This event will last from 12-5 pm. Advance tickets are recommended and are $12, and $15 at the gate if still available. Owners are admitted free with their dogs.

Dogs must be up-to-date on all necessary vaccinations to enter the event at either location. To maximize the fun and space for our pups, owners will not be allowed to enter the water past knee depth. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at park concession stands to help humans cool down. Pet vendors will be at Whirlin’ Waters as well as non-profit rescue groups. Pet owners are encouraged to stop by and support these great vendors. While in the park and for the safety of all guests, owners are encouraged to keep their dogs at hand and under control at all times. Space for these events is limited, so interested dogs owners are encouraged to sign up today at CharlestonCountyParks.com!

Both waterparks will be closed to the general public after Monday, Sept. 3. This event is brought to you by Coca-Cola, Crews Subaru, Charleston Animal Society and your Charleston County Parks. For more information or to purchase advance tickets, call (843) 795-4386 or visit CharlestonCountyParks.com.
